MammoLearning
Development of “deep learning” algorithms in mammograms aiming to provide early detection of breast cancer
About MammoLearning
Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide and the most common type of cancer among women. Globally, it is estimated that 1 out of 8 women will develop some form of breast cancer. However, in recent decades there has been a gradual decrease in deaths caused by this type of cancer. This tendency can be attributed to the widespread, regular use and improvement of the diagnostic technique of mammography and in particular, the early detection of cancerous tumors. The objective of this research proposal will be the development of a deep learning platform aiming to identify tumors of breast and possible prediction of carcinogenesis at a primary stage in order to optimize the therapeutic process. In particular, the system will be trained to detect patterns that over time will develop into breast cancer, thereby achieving faster diagnosis and therefore treatment.
